Remembrance 2018. The service and our post war picnic

This year we marked the centenary of the end of the Great War otherwise known as World War 1.

We sang songs of remembrance, read poetry and laid wreaths in our memorial garden.  We also hung poppies from our trees with the names of the men who had died who are on our school memorial board. The poppy chains were also made up of  prayers, wishes and poems of thanksgiving for those who are willing to sacrifice their lives for others.

A week later we had a school picnic to honour the soldiers and held a concert with songs from the period.

Poppies at Rickmansworth Museum

Poppies at Rickmansworth Museum 1
Our Year 6 class helped to create this wonderful array of poppies.  We contributed by making a poppy for each soldier from Mill End who died in World War 1.
