This week in year 3 .....

Welcome back to school. I hope you had a restful half-term and the children are ready for Spring 2.

This week in maths we have started a new topic, fractions, and the children have been learning and understanding the role of the denominator in unit fractions. 

In English, we have started to explore our new text for this half-term, The Star in the Jar.  We had a fun experience day, making and naming our own stars to hook us into the unit of learning.  In their writing, they have used a range of skills and techniques, including rhetorical questions, onomatopoeia and pathetic fallacy to keep their readers excited and engaged in their stories.

In Science, we have started to learn about plants and the children had fun exploring and naming the key parts of the plant and their functions to keep the plants alive!

Reading books will be sent home on Friday and must be returned on Wednesday.  

Reading records need to be filled in at least three times a week and signed by an adult at home and brought into school on Wednesdays for us to check. 

Maths and English homework is on Doodle Learning.  The children have their own login and this can be found inside their orange reading record books.  Homework is set on a Friday and should be completed by the following Wednesday.  Please let me know if you have any issues with completing the homework.
