Weekly Blog

Foundation Stage Learning

Welcome to our Weekly Blog!

Week beginning - 6th September

Oracy

This week in Oracy, we will be using Hello Friend! by Rebecca Cobb to explore friendship, feelings and how we communicate with others. The children will practise expressing their ideas, recognising different perspectives, asking and responding to questions, and using kind and respectful language when talking and playing with friends.

Phonics

F1

Sound focus of the Week: Environmental sounds

Rhyme of the Week: The Wheels on the Bus

F2

This week we will be learning letters s, a, t, p. The children will be taught the correct way to say each sound, the rhyme we use following the Little Wandle scheme to support writing each letter, and will practise recognising initial sounds using object beggining with this week's letters.

The children will be bringing home phonics sheets for this week's letters. Please practise these phonics sounds at home.

Children will not take home reading books until after October half term but will choose a library book every Friday.

Continuous Provision

Our theme this half term is, "I wonder what is special about me?"

Our topic this week is, 'My new class'.

This week, the children will be supported and encouraged to explore the different areas of our continuous provision, become familiar with the resources available, and have lots of practice tidying up and learning where everything belongs!

This week's Makaton sign is 'hello'.
