Week beginning -8th December

What a wonderful and busy week we’ve had here at nursery! The children have been fully engaged in a range of playful, creative and seasonal activities.

They spent time playing with the babies and making afternoon tea for their friends, practicing important social skills while pretending, pouring, stirring and serving.

Our sensory rice tray offered opportunities for scooping, pouring and exploring different textures. It was lovely to see the children so focused as they experimented with tools and containers.

As Christmas draws closer, we’ve continued to get festive! The children have used magazines, to choose and discuss the things they might like for Christmas, building language skills and sparking imagination. We also enjoyed Christmas-themed threading, where pipe cleaners were used to decorate mini-Christmas trees, great for strengthening little hands and developing fine motor skills.

Outdoors, the children worked together to build ‘Santa’s sleigh’ using our climbing equipment. They also crafted and decorated their own card baubles, so keep an eye out for a special Christmas surprise involving these soon!

One of the loveliest moments of the week was when everyone helped decorate our small nursery Christmas tree. Each child proudly hung the baubles, helping to make our environment feel magical and cosy.

Alongside all the festive fun, we’ve kept busy enjoying our favourite areas too: the soft play has been full of giggles, climbing and tumbling, and the mud kitchen continues to be a wonderfully messy space for imaginative cooking and sensory play.
