    Foundation Stage Learning 

    Week beginning - 19th January

    Literacy 

    This week we will start to explore the book 'Sam and Dave Dig a Hole'. In the story, Sam and Dave dig deeper and deeper, hoping to find something amazing — and although they don’t realise it, they come very close to buried treasures along the way!

    New sounds: ur, ow, oi, ear

    Tricky words: my, by, all

    Please continue to practise phonics sounds and tricky words at home.

    Please ensure that reading books and reading records are sent into school on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

    Continuous Provision

    This week the children will be:

    Exploring building with shapes in F1.

    Investigating more and fewer in F2 to understand that colour, size and type do not change the number.

    Role-playing in the hot chocolate cafe.

    Designing and constructing houses.  

    Using their phonics knowledge to match digraphs to pictures.

    Building words to write in a full sentence.

    Creating underground worlds in the small world area.

    Sorting items into 'winter' and 'not winter'.

    Creating winter-themed pictures using cotton wool as snow.

    Along with many other exciting activities!

    Adult led activity: PSED: Identifying feelings and solving problems.

    This week's Makaton sign is "me".
