Spring 2 2017

For this term we are going to be exploring the rainforests around the world. We will be looking at the four layers that make the rainforests with a particular focus on the Amazon rainforest. After we will then be researching into the animals that live there, their habitats and what makes it suitable for them to survive in these conditions. Next, we will then explore the plants that are in the rainforest with us then eventually debating deforestation and if it is ever okay to deforest for resources we use every day. Finally, we will discuss the different cultures and tribes that still live in the rainforests and how their lives are the same and different to us in Rickmansworth.

Homework

Every week the children will be given spelling homework for them to complete, they will be taught the rule in class and they will then have time to apply this. Weekly times tables for which they will move into different clubs when they have completed each one.  Also, either a piece of maths or English homework for them to complete to consolidate learning in class.

PE

Children will need their PE kits in school every Monday.

Their kits should include:

White/ green t-shirt (Children must change their shirt for PE)

Green shorts

Tracksuit bottoms (black or green)

Equipment

We will be learning the fife throughout the year and after Christmas the children will start bringing the instrument home to practise. The fife will go home Thursday evening until Tuesday.  Please ensure that the fife is in school as for hygiene reasons we do not have spares for the children to borrow.
